•Disseminated canine infections caused by all molds, not only Aspergillus spp., were reviewed.•German Shepherd dogs are most frequently affected, but cases in other breeds have been reported.•General malaise and ataxia are the most frequent clinical signs.•Definitive diagnosis should be based on fungal culture or immunohistochemistry.•Therapy is rarely successful.
